The client was wanting to build a campus-based app that let college students find friends, roommates, and dates. This was an interesting approach to an otherwise already created platform. By narrowing the user base to only those who are on campus, and then siloing each category into Friends, Roommates, and Dates, we were able to provide an in-depth experience for each section, along with adding overall campus news and upcoming events.
We whiteboarded out two potential approaches. The first was a siloed approach, where each category was separated into it’s very own section. This meant that each section would have it’s own chat and activities. The second was a mixed results approach. This would essentially combine all 3 categories into 1 massive app, with a more extensive tagging system to differentiate between each category. In the end, the siloed approach proved to be the far better option.
